AngloGold Ashanti has awarded Perth-based GR Engineering Services (GRES) with a $31.3 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for works at the Sunrise Dam gold mine.

GRES’ contract will involve a brownfields upgrade to processing facilities at the site, which is located 220 kilometres north east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.

Scope of works will include the design and construction of a floatation and ultra-fine grind processing facility as well as associated services upgrades to operate within the existing Sunrise Dam infrastructure.

“GR Engineering looks forward to making a positive contribution to the Sunrise Dam gold mine, which has been in operation for more than 20 years, through the safe and successful delivery of this accretive brownfields project,” GRES Managing Director Geoff Jones said.

Works are expected to commence immediately and is scheduled to be completed by June 2018.
