He started the project as a local community venture in Sydney, asking CEOs to spend the night in sleeping bags and cardboard boxes. While raising funds, the ‘shoe on the other foot’ concept gave participants valuable insights into the plight of the homeless . By 2010, the project was a national success, attracting at least 700 business leaders across 7 cities all over Australia.
On June 18th 2015, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout celebrates its 10th anniversary and hopes to raise $10 million for Australia’s homeless population.
It's time to give back. In the two short years that PlantMiner has been in operation, we have received such great community support across Australia and so jumped at the opportunity to participate in such a worthwhile national cause.
PlantMiner CEOs Michael Trusler and Mike Davis will join this year’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout. In the lead up to June 18th, they hope to raise awareness about homelessness, not just in Queensland, but Australia wide. Commenting on the Sleepout, Michael and Mike said the following:
As a Queensland man born and bred, the thought that one in eight Queenslanders live below the poverty line is a deeply personal call to action. – Michael Trusler, PlantMiner CEO
The 2015 Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a vital reminder to the wider community about social responsibility. I look forward to taking part in such a worthwhile cause. – Mike Davis, PlantMiner Co-CEO
The team at PlantMiner are collecting funds as we speak and plan to donate after a series of bake sales, swear jars and ping pong tournaments. To reach our goal, we need as much of your support as possible!
To support the cause, you can donate here.
A donation of any size could help shelter members of our community from a cold winter’s night. So, not only would your support be greatly appreciated, it will also inspire hope for those trying to break the cycle.
This year’s Sleepout will be held on 18th June and the entire PlantMiner family is on a mission to raise funds for the cause. Let’s help decrease homelessness one dollar – and one CEO – at a time.
