Mercy Health, in partnership with the State Department of Health and Services, has awarded Multiplex the contract to deliver Stage 1C of the $85 million Werribee Mercy Hospital redevelopment – located on the corner of Princes Highway and Hoppers Lane in Victoria.

The project involves replacing a few components of the façade from Stage 1A of the development. The project will involve adding a four level extension comprising of six operating theatres, 64 bed in-patient unit which will include eight critical care beds as well as a new central sterile supply department.

Stage 1C will also include a new stand-alone multi-level car park as well as extension and refurbishment works which will improve the existing loading dock and kitchen. The hospital road access system will be realigned and expanded as well, with a new fire truck access to be constructed.

“We are delighted to be a part of a project that will provide greater healthcare facilities and services for Victoria.

“Our team has developed a strong reputation for its expertise in delivering successful projects in the health sector and stand well placed to overcome the challenges associated with carrying out construction works in a live hospital campus environment,” said Multiplex Regional Managing Director Graham Cottam.

The project is expecting to support up to 300 jobs during construction.

Multiplex has already commenced construction on Stage 1C, with the entire Stage 1 of the project to be completed by mid-2018.
